On September 27, the First Wenzhou International Rehabilitation Congress was held, hosted by Wenzhou Medical University, China Association for Promotion of Rehabilitation Technology and Development, and the Taishun County People's Government. With the theme "‘Intelligence+’ Leading a New Era of Rehabilitation Medicine," the congress featured one main venue and 24 sub-venues, covering various fields such as intelligent rehabilitation, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation, rehabilitation research, rehabilitation industry transformation, hot spring rehabilitation, rehabilitation therapy, and neurological rehabilitation. Participants exchanged and discussed innovative technologies, clinical applications, and industrial development in rehabilitation medicine, exploring future development paths and innovations in cutting-edge technologies.

At the congress, Academician Li Xiaokun of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a presentation titled "Cell Growth Factors and Neural Regeneration Rehabilitation and Regulation." He introduced the opportunities and challenges in building a characteristic medical-rehabilitation-nursing industry-academia-research system in China in the new era. Drawing on his team’s theoretical research and innovative practices in the field of growth factors, he highlighted explorations in wound rehabilitation and outlined key initiatives at Wenzhou Medical University in integrating education with research, industry, and clinical practice to serve the national innovation system for life and health. He proposed developing the rehabilitation cause within a four-in-one system encompassing "medical care, education, technology, and industry."

Academician Fu Xiaobing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering presented a talk titled "People-Centered: Building a Dominant Discipline Cluster Focused on ‘Injury’ Treatment." Based on the nation’s significant demand for safety accident and combat trauma treatment, he proposed integrating disciplines such as trauma, burns, critical care, plastic surgery, and wound treatment to construct a dominant discipline cluster centered on "injury" treatment. This aims to better meet the major needs of trauma treatment with the goals of "saving lives, ensuring effective treatment, and achieving rapid rehabilitation," thereby serving the construction of a Healthy China and the efficient development of the social economy.

Academician Dong Erdan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a video lecture titled "Organized Research Boosting the Development of Medical Science." He elaborated on the principles of organizing research from the perspectives of the strategic requirements of Healthy China, the fundamental rules of technological innovation, and methods for conducting organized research.

The congress served not only as a platform for academic exchange but also as an excellent opportunity to promote university-enterprise cooperation and advance the development of new productive forces in rehabilitation medicine. During the event, Wenzhou Medical University signed cooperative projects with Guangzhou Yikang Medical Equipment Industrial Co., Ltd., Shandong Zepu Medical Technology Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Flyt Intelligent Medical Technology Co., Ltd. Additionally, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University signed an agreement for the transformation of rehabilitation technology achievements with Wenzhou Auspory Rehabilitation Technology Co., Ltd. The congress also featured scholarship and research center unveiling ceremonies, as well as an awards ceremony for the top ten papers in the field of rehabilitation.

In recent years, Wenzhou Medical University has strengthened cooperation with institutions such as the China Rehabilitation Medical Center and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation to actively establish a high-level rehabilitation medical school. It has also closely collaborated with local governments, China Eye Valley, China Gene Valley, and renowned enterprises to promote the development of high-tech industrial clusters in Wenzhou. Academician Li Xiaokun stated that the congress would drive the development of the rehabilitation medicine system. With the deepening practice of the "Intelligence+" concept, the university will continue to stimulate innovation, enhance international exchanges and cooperation, promote the deep integration of rehabilitation medicine with high-tech fields such as information technology and bioengineering, and elevate the influence and competitiveness of the rehabilitation medicine discipline.
