
From November 15 to 17, the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of the Sports Health and Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine was held at the Binhai Campus of Wenzhou Medical University. Meanwhile, the 6th National Skills Competition for Students Majoring in Sports Rehabilitation was also held.
Zhang Xia, Director and Party Secretary of the Institute of Sports Medicine under the General Administration of Sport of China, and Du Kun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, attended the event and delivered speeches. Li Xiao-Kun, Vice Chairman (concurrently) of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and President of Wenzhou Medical University, and Liu Zhen, Academic Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at Wenzhou Medical University, participated both online and offline. Zhou Jun, Chair of the Sports Health and Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine; Rong Xiang-Jiang, Vice Chair of the Committee; Chen Nai-Che, Member of the Party Committee and Head of the Organization Department of Wenzhou Medical University; and Lin Tie, Deputy Secretary of the Dongtou District Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, were also present. More than 900 participants attended the event, including experts and scholars from the rehabilitation medicine field in China, competing faculty and student teams from 73 universities across the country, representatives from leading technology-assisted disability enterprises, and faculty and student representatives from Wenzhou Medical University.

In her speech, Zhang Xia emphasized that, against the backdrop of coordinated efforts to promote a sports powerhouse and a Healthy China, as well as the national strategy of "national fitness", developing sports health and rehabilitation is crucial for meeting the growing health needs of the public and improving overall national health. She expressed hope that this annual conference would serve as an important platform for addressing practical challenges in sports rehabilitation, promoting the deep integration of sports psychology and nutrition with rehabilitation practices, and innovating talent cultivation models through curriculum reforms and industry-academia collaboration, thereby nurturing more high-quality, interdisciplinary professionals for the industry.

Du Kun pointed out that the field of sports health and rehabilitation is currently undergoing significant multidimensional transformations and innovations. With the accelerating breakthroughs in technological integration, rehabilitation service models are continuously shifting toward "precision prescription" He stressed that this field carries the important mission of safeguarding public health and is vital to the successful advancement of the "Healthy China" strategy. With the theme "Sports Rehabilitation and National Health," he called on experts and scholars to make full use of this platform to focus on disciplinary frontiers and delve into new issues and directions within the field.
Keynote Reports

Li Xiao-Kun delivered an online report titled The Construction of China's Rehabilitation Medical Service System. He highlighted the strategic value of proactive health in building a Healthy China and emphasized the importance of improving the level of primary-level rehabilitation medical services. He proposed that enhancing the overall standard of rehabilitation medical services in China requires elevating rehabilitation medicine to a first-tier discipline, increasing efforts in cultivating rehabilitation medicine talent, strengthening the development of high-level rehabilitation talent teams, and innovating rehabilitation medical service models.

Liu Zhen in his report Human-Machine Integration—Development and Challenges of Exoskeleton Rehabilitation Robots, reviewed the development history of robots and rehabilitation robots. He noted that exoskeleton rehabilitation robots represent a new, high-quality means for restoring motor function and suggested improving the intelligence, user-friendliness, and personalization of rehabilitation robots to enhance sports rehabilitation outcomes.

Chen Ai-Guo, Vice President of Nanjing Sport Institute, delivered an online report titled Research Progress in Exercise Intervention for Autism: Foundations and Applications. He proposed establishing a new paradigm for autism sports rehabilitation services through exercise and promoting the integrated development of industry-academia-research-application in autism exercise intervention.
Zhang Jun, the incoming Chair of the Sports Health and Rehabilitation Professional Committee, presented The Synergistic Effects of Exercise and Nutrition: Interdisciplinary Research on Weight Management, emphasizing the importance of weight management and advocating for scientific weight management through the synergy of exercise and nutrition.
Huang Guo-Zhi, Chair of the Rehabilitation Education Professional Committee, presented Innovative Ideas and Practices for the Development of Smart Rehabilitation Medicine Departments, offering a comprehensive analysis of pathways to enhance the level of sports rehabilitation.
Wang Xue-Qiang, Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at Wenzhou Medical University, presented Clinical Research on Exercise Therapy for Improving Low Back Pain. He recommended formulating standards and international guideline consensuses, developing sports rehabilitation smart devices, and promoting conversion of research into practice.
Partnership Signing Ceremony

During the conference, the Sports Health and Rehabilitation Professional Committee signed a cooperation agreement with AT Guanchaoli Sports Rehabilitation Group, and the Rehabilitation Skills Training Base of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at Wenzhou Medical University was officially inaugurated. Additionally, the unveiling ceremony for the "5G + Remote Rehabilitation Center," jointly established by the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at Wenzhou Medical University and the Dongtou District Disabled Persons' Federation, was held.
Parallel Forums

The conference also featured nine parallel forums, including Sports Rehabilitation Education, Exercise for Health and Chronic Disease Rehabilitation, Integration of Sports and Medicine, Internet + Remote Rehabilitation,Geriatric Health and Neurological Rehabilitation, Smart Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Equipment R&D, Sports Protection and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Management, and Submitted Paper Exchange. A total of 273 academic papers were exchanged, covering latest directions such as sports rehabilitation, sports protection, pain rehabilitation, brain-computer interfaces, integration of sports and medicine, autism rehabilitation, and smart rehabilitation, comprehensively showcasing the latest achievements and development trends in the field of sports health and rehabilitation.
Competition

The concurrently held 6th National Skills Competition for Students Majoring in Sports Rehabilitation attracted 114 teams from 73 universities across the country. The competition was conducted simultaneously for undergraduate and vocational college groups, featuring both theoretical and practical assessment components. After intense competition, the team from Wenzhou Medical University won the group first prize in the undergraduate category, while students such as Luo Yulan and Wang Yuting received individual first prizes in the undergraduate category.
